SYARIKAT CONTINENT LORRY TRANSPORT SDN. BHD.(SCLT) has been shortlisted as a finalist for the Best Logistics Operator at Transport Expo Asia (TXA) Award 2026, marking a significant milestone in the Malaysian logistics company’s development. The award acknowledges SCLT’s commitment to reliable operations, strong customer relationships and continuous improvement within the transportation industry.
SCLT’s journey began in 1996 with just four conventional cargo trucks. From this modest beginning, the company gradually built its experience, customer relationships and operational capabilities. A significant turning point came in 2015, when SCLT expanded its business and invested in six new prime movers, marking the start of a more structured expansion of its container fleet.
Today, SCLT operates 35 units, comprising 10 cargo trucks and 25 prime movers. Yet its development has gone beyond fleet expansion. In an interview for the TXA Awards, Mr William Chua, SCLT’s Corporate Manager, said the company has grown through steady expansion, adaptation and continuous improvement, strengthening both its operations and financial position.
How does experience become a competitive advantage?
When asked about SCLT’s greatest strengths, William identified “our people, our experience and our reliability” as the foundation of the company’s operations. Years of practical knowledge have enabled its team to understand container haulage and the operational demands faced by clients.
However, experience must be supported by operational discipline. SCLT places importance on training, competency and safety awareness across its drivers, operations teams, management and support functions. With a mindset of continuous improvement, the company continues to seek better ways to improve efficiency, safety and service quality rather than simply maintaining traditional practices.
How does SCLT create greater value?
Experience provides the foundation for SCLT to adapt to a changing logistics landscape. As William explained, “What makes SCLT stand out is our ability to combine experience with adaptability.”
This approach is evident in its closed-loop, multi-country container logistics model. Rather than treating each transportation movement separately, the model connects different transport legs, allowing containers to be utilised across multiple movements. This helps minimise empty-container repositioning, increase loaded backhaul opportunities and maximise the utilisation of both containers and the haulage fleet.
The impact is measurable. SCLT reported a 31% increase in TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit) productivity per fleet between 2023 and 2025, showing how operational innovation can turn existing resources into greater value for customers.
What keeps customers coming back?
For SCLT, logistics is not simply about moving cargo. It is about building relationships. The company aims to understand customer requirements and provide reliable and responsive service while working towards long-term partnerships.
We aim to build long-term relationships, not just provide a transportation service for our clients.
—William Chua, Corporate Manager, Syarikat Continent Lorry Transport Sdn. Bhd.
Trust, cooperation, transparency, and open communication are therefore central to SCLT’s relationships with customers, ports, and logistics partners. Behind these relationships are its people, from drivers and operations personnel to management and support teams, whose contributions keep the business running safely and efficiently.
This collective effort has also shaped SCLT’s position as a finalist for the TXA Best Logistics Operator Award. For William, the award acknowledges the team’s dedication and reinforces the motivation to continue improving its service, safety, efficiency and operational capabilities.
Looking ahead, SCLT is not simply pursuing growth in size, but growth in capability. William’s ambition is clear: “not simply to become bigger, but instead I would wish to become better and stronger”-better in service, more efficient in operations and stronger as a team. Through continued investment in its people, technology, fleet capabilities, safety standards and environmentally responsible practices, SCLT aims to build on the foundations it has established. From four trucks to a 35-unit fleet, SCLT’s journey has been shaped by experience, sustained by trust, and driven by a commitment to move forward. As it enters its next chapter, the TXA Awards recognition serves not as a finish line, but as a reminder of what has been built-and what comes next.
