Signify Appoints Sukanto Aich as New CEO for Malaysia


Kuala Lumpur – Signify (Euronext: LIGHT), the world leader in lighting, appoints Sukanto Aich as the new CEO for Signify Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (formerly Philips Lighting Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.), effective 1 Sep 2021. Sukanto will succeed Alok Ghose who has been with Signify Malaysia for the last 6 years. In his new position of CEO, Sukanto will oversee the development of Signify’s operations in Malaysia, broadening the offering of innovative connected lighting solutions for users in Malaysia. A former Systems and Services Leader of Signify India, Sukanto will be based in Malaysia and will be reporting to Rami Hajjar, CEO for South East Asia.

Sukanto joined Signify in India as the National Sales Manager in 2014 and later served as the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) for Signify India starting 2018. He has also served as Wholetime Director on the Board of Directors of Signify Innovations India. During his tenure as CMO, Sukanto oversaw the successful transition of the Philips Lighting brand to Signify, and contributed to the launch of the Ecolink Brand and established the Interact platform for Systems & Services Business (S&S). In 2020, Sukanto took up the role of Systems & Services Leader of Signify India and was instrumental in building a strong team, competent in capabilities and processes for the S&S Business.

Sukanto graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering from Jadavpur University and completed his Post Graduate Diploma in Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta. He also successfully completed Executive Leadership Programs at INSEAD Singapore, ISB Hyderabad, IIM Ahmedabad and Bangalore. Before joining Signify, Sukanto has held senior management positions with the Tata Group, Bennett, Coleman and Company Limited, Bharti Airtel Limited, HCL Infosystems Limited, and various other large corporations.
