TNB: PUTTING POWER INTO THE CUSTOMERS’ HANDS

KUALA LUMPUR, 22 February 2021 – Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) continues to increasingly integrate digital technologies and internet of things (IoT) innovations into the daily lives of Malaysians. Together with their smart home products subsidiary Maevi Sdn Bhd (Maevi), they aim to play an integral role in supporting the government’s digitalization plan.

“Our goal is to introduce technologies that complement each other to ultimately deliver a more energy-efficient, sustainable future and to help improve the nation’s supply system reliability and resilience,” said Ir. Mohamed Ghous Ahmad, TNB Project Director, Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI).

“TNB is constantly innovating to provide solutions for customers and through our Smart Meter rollout and myTNB app improvements, we intend to enrich the lives of our customers and provide greater convenience, transparency, and control,” added Ir. Ghous.

Following the success of installing one million Smart Meters in Melaka and the Klang Valley, TNB and Maevi surprised Ms. Tang Kwee Eng, the one-millionth Smart Meter customer, with RM2,000 worth of Maevi Smart Home products.

Tang was overjoyed with the gesture and was incredibly thankful to TNB and Maevi. “This was a complete surprise but a welcome one. It has definitely helped kickstart my 2021 and Chinese New Year celebrations!” said Tang.

Maevi develops IoT/industrial IoT products and solutions focusing but not limited to energy management and optimisation. “Maevi is proud to support TNB’s efforts to empower customers to plan their electricity usage efficiently,” said Izham Ismail, Maevi Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
“Maevi smart home devices perfectly complement the Smart Meter benefits by extending the ability to add remote energy monitoring to home automation and home security, making every home even smarter,” he added.

As Malaysia moves forward in its digital transformation, TNB hopes to continue on the Smart Meter installation efforts in Klang Valley for the remainder of 2021, with plans to expand into other areas of Malaysia in the near future.
