The Ministry of Planning and Investment of Laos has appointed The Korean Airports Corporation (KAC) to pilot a feasibility study on Laos’s Luangprabang International Airport (LPQ) and carry out a KRW100 billion (US$89 million) expansion.
The project is expected to be fully completed within 10 to 30 years, with the feasibility study taking around six months to finish. The development is expected to increase the accessibility of the airport and strengthen Laos and Korea’s diplomatic relations further.
KAC is also currently overseeing the construction of Chinchero International Airport and operating Manta Airport in Ecuador.
In September 2018, Laos waived the visa on entry requirement for South Koreans, allowing them to stay in the nation for up to 30 days without a visa, further solidifying the two countries ties.
