ENPlus Electrifies Philippine’s EV Dreams

Philippines’ aspirations to increase electric vehicles (EV) uptake is set to receive a welcome boost. ENPlus, a South Korean special purpose vehicles manufacturer, announced that it will invest 5 billion pesos (US$98.6 million) for EV production in the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA). The facility which will be located in the Pulupandan municipality of Negros Occidental will also include the manufacturing of electric jeepneys – a popular transportation mode in the country.

This follows a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on 21 October 2021 between ENPlus and the investment promotion agency under the Philippines Department of Trade
and Industry and PEZA, for EV joint ventures.

PEZA will allocate 30 hectares of land to connect the South Korean company with other industries for prospective projects and agreements.

Known as a fire-fighting vehicle and solutions provider, ENPlus had recently expanded into EVs. According to PEZA Director General Charito B. Plaza, its partnership with ENPlus is in line with the goals to develop regions outside Metro Manila and make Philippines a sustainable and environmental-friendly country.
