Road safety remains one of the most critical pillars of modern transport infrastructure, directly influencing public welfare, economic productivity, and workforce well-being across Malaysia. The Excellence in Road Safety category at the Transport Expo Asia (TXA) Awards 2026 was established to celebrate organizations that go beyond compliance to actively protect lives on the road. Honouring innovations ranging from proactive data-driven workplace intervention initiatives to high-precision automated traffic surveillance and active hardware risk mitigation, this award highlights the collective efforts needed to build safer commuting corridors, reduce traffic-related fatalities, and cultivate a long-term culture of road safety nationwide.
The honour was officially conferred at the TXA Awards Gala Dinner on 22 October 2026 at the Hyatt Regency Kuala Lumpur at KL Midtown. Serving as the grand finale to Transport Expo Asia 2026—hosted by Malaysia’s Ministry of Transport—the inaugural awards celebrated industry excellence on a global scale. The three-day exhibition, which took place from 20 to 22 October 2026 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), gathered 410 leading companies from 23 nations to shape the future of transport and mobility.
These are the finalists for the category:
- Pertubuhan Keselamatan Sosial (PERKESO): The statutory body under the Ministry of Human Resources provides injury, invalidity and death protection to Malaysian workers. Its Ops Cegah initiative is the crux of its case for the Awards, as it engages employers to address and reduce commuting related hazards experienced by employees.
- TCSens Sdn Bhd: Established in 2012, the company has worked tirelessly to implement new technologies in order to keep roads safe. By strategically installing cameras at high-risk locations, it is looking to instil safer driving habits, working alongside enforcement authorities to ensure all Malaysians are able to go home safe.
- Vertex Mission Sdn Bhd: As a container haulier and logistics company, it employs measures to manage risks its drivers may face as they move cargo. As such, the company conducts regular screening and utilises high-tech equipment with technology in order to effectively monitor its staff so as to prevent as many accidents as possible.
Pertubuhan Keselamatan Sosial (PERKESO) emerged victorious at the Transport Expo Asia (TXA) Awards 2026, taking home the Excellence in Road Safety honour. This award serves as a testament to the organisation’s persistent drive to foster a culture of road safety across Malaysia. From empowering commuters with essential safety knowledge to advocating for safer transport environments, PERKESO’s comprehensive initiatives continue to make a tangible, life-saving impact on Malaysia’s roadways.
Accepting the award on behalf of PERKESO was Dr. Azlan Darus, Head of the Prevention, Medical, and Rehabilitation Division. Reflecting on the impact of their flagship safety initiative, Dr. Azlan highlighted that the vision behind Ops Cegah was to take a more proactive, hands-on role in mitigating road risks across the country. “When we launched Ops Cegah, we hoped to play a more active role in tackling accident risks,” he shared during his acceptance speech. “This award is a powerful recognition of our drive to one day achieve a zero-accident rate.”
A Multi-Faceted Approach to Transport and Commuter Safety
These companies demonstrate how a combination of automated enforcement, institutional policy and specialised hardware can holistically tackle road casualties. TCSens Sdn. Bhd. demonstrated the power of technology-driven monitoring by integrating high-precision automated camera systems—such as the AwAS and Ekin Spotter G2—to capture critical real-time traffic data, deter reckless driving, and modernize highway surveillance. Taking a socio-institutional approach, Pertubuhan Keselamatan Sosial (PERKESO) addressed commuting risks through data analytics and targeted interventions like Ops Cegah, partnering directly with high-risk employer networks to mandate workplace safety protocols and protect commuting workers.
Complementing these efforts, Vertex Mission underscored the vital role of physical infrastructure by engineering specialized traffic management hardware and active risk-mitigation solutions designed to enhance driver visibility, detect hazards in dense transit zones, and safeguard vulnerable road users. Together, the three contenders illustrated that achieving long-term road safety requires a synchronized strategy spanning technological enforcement, proactive public policy, and robust infrastructure development.
Congratulations once again to all our TXA Awards 2026 finalists and winners!
The next edition of both the expo and the awards will be in 2028. Transport Expo Asia 2026 was organised by Alpine Integrated Solutions while the TXA Awards 2026 was curated by the IBR Asia Group.
