Three hotels in Bangkok and Pattaya are in the pipelines for multinational hospitality company, IHG Hotels and Resort (IHG) and Asset World Corporation (AWC), Thailand’s leading real estate group. Three agreements were signed between the two parties for the development of a new InterContinental Bangkok in Verngnakornkhasem and two boutique hotels in Chinatown and Pattaya respectively.
These projects are part of the two companies’ agreement to jointly develop 1,200 rooms in the country. IHG’s portfolio in Thailand includes 32 hotels with 33 properties more in the plans. IHG’s aim to expand its property portfolio in Thailand by 50 percent.
Rajit Sukumaran, Managing Director of IHG for Southeast Asia and Korea revealed that this move is in line with the company’s aim to diversify its lifestyle and hospitality offerings in Thailand. According to AWC’s CEO and President Wallapa Traisorat, these projects will further boost the tourism sector of Thailand.
